Why self-awareness is key to heal from burnout

Many of my clients work with me post-burnout. One of the sad things I see is most of them are surprised when they experience burnout., yet there are many red flags that show up ahead of time.

Why does it happen? There are many reasons - among them traumas, living in a high stress environment, lack of clear boundaries, running on an auto-pilot due to low self-awareness and low self-care.
What is self-awareness in this context?
It's about being truly connected to oneself, and putting oneself first in a positive way. Some of the questions I ask my clients to assess their level of self-awareness are:
Who are you as a person?
What are your values and what do you dislike?
What's important to you at work/at home?
How do you treat yourself?
Have you identified your wounds that keep you operating in the flight or flight mode?
Are you ready to embrace change?
Sadness, jealousy, anxiety, stress, limiting beliefs trigger fight or flight mode.
Only by becoming self-aware you can take the first step to acknowledge change and action it step by step.
