How many times did you hear "be quiet, don't cry, big boys/girls don't cry, be a good girl/boy, stop it" - when you showed anger or frustration as a child? Sounds familiar?
We can't do anything about how our parents raised us but we can decide how we want to live our lives in the present moment.
Are you stuck in the past because of the behavioural programs that you were exposed to as a child? Know this - chance is instant when you acknowledge that you are a human being and you have a courage to do the work to face your behaviour or emotional reactions that leave you in pain and system exhaustion.
There is no silver bullet. You can't suppress the emotions you don't like to move to what you like - you need to first acknowledge those feelings and let them surface.

Did you know that a feeling lasts 90 seconds?
It's like a wave that will pass, the trick is to observe it, rather than react to it.
Unprocessed sadness, grief, anger sooner or later will showcase as an imbalance in your body. And the best part is they may not even be yours. How is that possible, you may wonder. We are all energetic beings and we pick things up from others, whether it's work, external environment or stuff that's been inherited from your family or past generations. The issues are in the tissues so start paying attention - observe what happens in your body.
Ask some simple questions and listen
Where do I feel it in my body?
Is it mine or not mine?
Does it have a colour, a texture, a sound?
Does it want to say anything to me? Is there a message behind what I feel?
Pause and breathe
Slow breathing in and out through the nose allows your parasympathetic nervous system to relax
Focus on opening your chest and aligning your breath with the heartbeat
Observe the emotion rather than react to it
Is there another emotion that is hidden behind the first one?
Give yourself a moment of GRACE!
Reflect
Even in the worst day scenario, there's always some positivity, all depends on perspective and how much importance you give to the good or bad within your day.
Invite gratitude to your heart - whatever happened today, you are still alive and breathing and tomorrow is a new day - make it count!
